Client wanted a replacement for his award-winning book, a novel set in 1930s depression; tThe current cover being too depressing. He wanted to include a man with flowers waiting at a door in a film noir style. Knowing that film noir was not a good style for a non-mystery novel, I took a different approach. I used a muted palette to fit in with the depression era as well as using a typestyle popular during that time. I added scuffed shoes effect and wear on the pants for a feeling of destitution.
