Here are some further guidelines on how our ‘egg’ character should be presented
- Our character is ALWAYS to retain its very specific shape and immediate recognizability
- While our character cannot be ‘broken’ or deformed, it might have ‘scars’, texture, colours or shading, as per the artist’s chosen style
-The ‘eye’ is NOT actually an eye--it does not have a pupil or an iris or any other eye parts! It does not blink, or squint or show any emotion whatsoever. It is just a single spot and is always in the EXACT SAME position relative to the rest of the character and the EXACT SAME shape as per the original design (note that the spot can be any colour and may have shading, glint or texture, as per the artist’s chosen style)
-The colour and thickness of our character’s lines can be altered, so long as the final design is still immediately recognisable as our character
Note that our character’s shadow can be freely modified as required.
Our character is lifeless, emotionless and inert. Any life in Shiro or activity on its part is SUGGESTED ONLY--with people, creatures, objects or environment in the scene responding to a suggested event set prior to the image. The gag is that Shiro is essentially a ‘pet rock’, with the viewer identifying with Shiro’s predicament and projecting their own emotions upon the scene.
