scotweb got their new web page design (coded) by running a design contest:
Online Tartan Design - redesign & SEMI-code mockups - $675
Check out scotweb's Web Page Design (Coded) contest…
We've made rough mockups of a 5-tab process, for a new online tartan design facility. We'd like clean clear redesign of my mockups (http://tinyurl.com/2g4m73 ) by this Monday (20th). Please do 2 of our 7 pages. We'll then choose winner, to finish rest of site design and navigation coding by Thursday (23rd). NOTE coding of back-end AJAX functionality is NOT required.
What's your vision?
Desired Style: Clean, simple, professional Accepted File Formats: XHTML & CSS with images SEMI-FUNCTIONAL XHTML PAGE REDESIGN Summary We are looking for a coded but only SEMI-FUNCTIONAL redesign of our rough mockup. This is for a new tool that will let users design and share their own tartans. It will sit within the framework of www.scotwebstore.com but may also be licensed for third party branding, so overall design should be neutral. Mockups are here: http://www.mediafire.com/?9np43c3d4an This commission is (a) to improve the 'look & feel' design & usability, and (b) to produce a valid XHTML web site with basic functionality (i.e. navigation elements working etc.). AJAX & perl/php coding for the actual tartan design functionality (mostly on tab 2 of this mockup) will be put out to tender later. To enter this competition, please produce designs for tab 1 (Start) and tab 2b (Design, in use) by Monday. We will select a designer based on these. You will then be asked to complete the layout and coding to the full spec below, by Thursday. IMPORTANT: please enter only if you can finish the coding on schedule as valid XHTML; we will pay out when this is done. Also required is a set of ad buttons & banners in standard sizes, to publicise this facility on our own site and on third party sites. This should include the logo/icon that is part of the brief. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The design goals are: improve detailed design for a compelling professional look & feel  simplicity & clarity are the over-riding design goals retain all navigation & information elements in mockup or notes below produce a logo/icon for the facility, representing tartan design include all wordings as written, unless clearly unnecessary propose usability enhancements? The style required is: contemporary, professional, efficient we do not wish to evoke olde-worlde or craft-look imagery do not use any tartan in the page design avoid tiny font sizes (our users are often elderly) mockup layout and tools (e.g. tabs, sliders, buttons, etc.) are provisional, and can be adapted if desired Format required: 100% valid XHTML code with CSS (external stylesheet) tested on all main recent browsers & platforms work fully within an 800x600 area **************************************** A FULL DESIGN SPEC INCLUDING EXPLANATION OF INTENDED SITE FUNCTIONALITY IS INCLUDED WITH THE MOCKUPS DOWNLOAD AT http://www.mediafire.com/?9np43c3d4an ****************************************
