HelloLoss website is a place for education and connection. Grief support. A space for complicated grief. Support groups. Crisis & Trauma support. Blog. Also a place to go for help with anxiety & depression. And scheduling appointments online. The target audience is 10 years and up.
We want it calming, hopeful, (not dark or sad), and playful. We like nature and the peace and calmness that comes from it. We like the sunset colors like in the logo. It should have a feeling of a deeply supportive space. Perhaps, there could be elephant footprints along a trail or path. Like a journey to walk through.
#1 Homepage: Featuring a calming picture or scene. With general information on what is on the site (different pages). Also, an introduction video and information about the counselor, Garrett Price. "Hello, my name is Garrett Price. I have spent my 40 years of life living in Idaho. I have been married for 20 of those years to the love of my life and together we have two daughters. I love my family, mountain biking, reading, sci-fi, spirituality, art, and video games. My path into helping others happened when I was in my early 20’s. I helped care for my grandmother as she declined and died. This experience was foundational, and it awakened a desire to learn how to care for others. I studied to become a minister and started working with youth. Then my wife became pregnant with our first child. The pregnancy ended with my wife giving birth to a beautiful baby boy who never took a breath. The grief and pain of my son’s death further increased my desire to help others. From there, I earned a master’s degree in spiritual formation and another in clinical counseling. Most of my adult life has been spent at the bedside of people on hospice. I used what I learned to bring peace to souls at the end of life and help families heal after the death of their loved ones. Over the past seven years, I have been studying grief, trauma, depression, and anxiety. In my studies, I believe I have identified cutting-edge technologies and techniques that are effective in creating rapid and significant healing. My calling is helping people find their life worth living, by healing their minds, teaching them how to have their thoughts and feelings, regulate and pattern their nervous system, and supporting them to take meaningful actions in connection to their values. We are meant to thrive, I am here to help you do it." (This next part can continue on in the Meet the Counselor section or can be put on another page.) "This experience, or what we sometimes call life, can be hard and in difficult times it's helpful to have a path or direction. A place to find a welcoming other, to discover new skills, heal the mind, strengthen the soul, and find a way forward. This is why my team and I have started HelloLoss. I believe that most of what we call mental illness, suffering, or grief comes down to two things. First, that our brain and nervous system have done their best to keep us safe, but they are misreading our environments as threating and this is created an unhelp threat response pattern in our lives. As a result, we miss out on feeling safe and making meaningful connection. Second, that we all suffer from an unhealthy relationship with our thoughts, feelings, and actions. At HelloLoss, we use brain change methods to help you heal naturally from the inside out. Because the path is natural, happening from the inside out, or you could say from the bottom up, the change is long-lasting. When we learn to regulate our threat responses, rewrite our negative narratives about ourselves, and our world, and change our relationship with our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors we start to see that we can live well with any circumstance that life can give us." We would also like some testimonials at the bottom of the page. Possibly scrolling through a few. Possible one-liners to use throughout the site. (The elephant in our logo represents the weight of grief.): • You don't have to grieve alone. • Make space, make sense, make a way forward. • Make a way forward. • Grief is heavy, let us help lighten it. • Talk about the elephant in the room. • Let's talk about the elephant in the room. • Lean into the elephant. #2 Blog Page: A page set up with thumbnail images and titles for blogposts. #3 Resources Page: We'd like a page where we can add videos and resource links. (I'll attach a few links that we have so far. Top half of the page can have adult resources and bottom half can have youth resources. We have a separate logo with children and brighter colors that can go in this section.) Adult Resources • www.centerforloss.com • www.griefdigestmagazine.com • www.nhpco.org • https://www.mastersincounseling.org/guide/loss-grief-bereavement/ Youth resources - • http://www.pbs.org/parents/whenfamiliesgrieve/ • http://childrengrieve.org/ • www.dougy.org • www.bosplace.org #4 The Practice: The Practice is an app developed to help people "Make a Way Forward" while dealing with anxiety or depression, or after the loss of a loved one. (This app is still being developed, but this page will be a place to describe the features of the app. You could start off with some general headings such as, "How it works," "App Features," and "Download Now.") #5 Let's Get Started page: Include Services & Fees section and section to schedule a meeting or contact us. What to avoid
Do not make the site dark or sad. Keep the colors bright and hopeful.
We love interactive sites where you can hover over an image and a description will pop up. Like I mentioned before, maybe there can be elephant footprints on a path. Or maybe the elephant can move or appear places throughout the site. Make sure that it's subtle though. We don't want the whole site to be filled with elephants, but it might be nice to have the elephant here and there, or even in the background. We really like nature.
