John Bain needed a new web page design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 141 designs submitted by 22 freelance designers.
The site is a new way of searching for personalised registration plates (called vanity plates in the USA) for vehicles (driven in the UK). It should be a very simple, clean, modern looking website which is very easy for the user to navigate and use.
Three page design – No templates, original works only please.
MyNewReg.com
You can find the company logo here. It might be an idea to look at the wikipedia article on personalised plates in the UK to get some ideas, although it shouldn’t be cheap and gimmicky. You can use the number plate font although it’s not particularly attractive.
Companies such as regtransfers.co.uk currently sell number plates but I don't want the design to be as complicated as theirs.
Page 1 is the homepage. It should be a simple page with the emphasis on the user searching for a number plate.
Page 2 is the results page where users will be presented with the available registration plates. They should be presented in a simple table like arrangement which contains the price (in £), what the registration is and who the supplier is and a “buy” button or similar. It might look good if the number plates returned appeared like pictures of real ones.
Page 3 is a simple page for displaying things like the terms and conditions.
All pages should have links to allow users to login/register, find out about the site or go to the downloads section. This is required along with the usual links in the footer.
