Episode39.it - http://www.episode39.it
On Episode39.it, after one year of work on database (Shows, Seasons, Episodes, Stars, Characters) and service (tv schedule), we want to redesign our core page, the episode page you can see as an example here http://www.episode39.it/shows/20-Dr…sodes/8560 to involve more our readers with the site interaction opportunities.
Now in the head of the page you have the main data about the Show and Season and then the title of the Episode, with schedule info, director name and with a plot you can hide.
Then you can give a rate to episode and using the "Personaggi" tab also rate all the character performance in the episode. All rates are then visible in the "Grafico" tab for the show, and in the same tab located in the character page fot the character itself.
In the "Link" tab people can "do something like digg" links to interesting content connected to the episode. In the "Commenti" tab people can comment about the episode, these comments are then gathered at season/show level.
The "Compra episodio" tab is devoted to e-commerce links, while the "Gallery" ... is pictures.
Actually, for us due to design errors, the site is working pretty goog for people looking for information about tv shows and episode scheduling, of them less than the 10% rate the episode, less than 5% rate character performance and less than 1% is involved in comments and other forms of real interaction.
We want the desing to evolve remaining attractive for people looking for information, but absolutely engaging for tv show fans that here can find a way to trend their favourite shows/character, post/find resources on the show, and discuss with other fan using comments.
We want to increase the target of active users.
The Episode page is the core of Episode39.it, so, if you think that it is useful, you can also change how the content/services is distributed using the sidebar and the page header even if we prefer to keep these for cross-sectional services.
We will also like to move to a fixed width page, and, if necessary, eliminate the small icons used for rate/prefer if the design suggest something better, but we want to keep the logo palette.
The design we are looking for must be able to highlight everything that is hot around the Episode: recent comments, more interesting links, trends in episode/characters rates from one episode to the other and, from these highlights focus access to more detailed information and interaction.
One of the problem we have with the episode page on our site is that we have a lot of content opportunities in the tabs (link, comment, Grafico, Gallery) but only one of them selected when you arrive on the page (in this case we see Personaggi selected) so we are very interested in adding a tab, or adding something to this tab, that hilights some of this content directly on the landing page, can you provide some ideas for that.
