Dont be afraid to use white space. Use the blue and orange (and whatever other colors you come up with) as accents. Wed really like to see some strong work done around icons, theyre really going to carry the design. Weve come up with a final list of icons: My Account, Portfolios, Forum, Search, News, Projects, Help and Community. Use Portfolio, Projects and News as the main call out boxes. The others can be smaller navigational elements. The main area of the homepage can be a short headline and line of copy on a graphic background. Thank you and good luck to everyone. ---------------- A community/marketplace - not social networking. Audience: graphic designers. Icon based design, no need for real photos. All graphical elements. Web 2.0 colors, blue and orange are the icon, which is running its own contest now. Clean, minimialistic, no clutter, bright = web 2.0. Search functionality is KEY. Focus of the home page. There needs to be 3-5 callout boxes on the homepage: newsletter, promotions, site features, etc. Navigation should include: Search, Home, Info, Post, My Account, About - but not in that order.
