We are building an interactive social platform for television audiences that lets fans create communities with other viewers while they watch TV. Our mission is to help people have more fun watching TV by connecting them with each other in new and interesting ways. We want viewers to share opinions and reactions to the shows with other people watching at the same time.
People will join a WatchParty through mobile devices and computers, and eventually through their televisions. We call it "true social television" and we believe it's going to change the way people watch TV and the way networks will create programming in the future.
WatchParty will be free to download and use, and we intend to put significant resources into marketing the product - including having television networks promote it - so we expect it to get significant visibility across the Internet and television.
WatchParty is for anyone who watches TV, but the specific target audience is viewers who engage other viewers while they watch TV.
The audience includes people of all ages from everywhere across the country, but focuses on people who are active users of Twitter, Facebook, and texting, as well as regular readers of blogs and participants in forums.
In addition, since the product is for TV viewers, we are targeting active audiences for TV programs - the fans. Our audience is passionate about their TV shows, and they like to talk about them.
This website is the first release of our product, and will be followed up with mobile applications. It must be professional and of the highest quality. We are looking for an "elegant" design - the way Apple Computers makes "elegant" products. We want it to be clean, nice to look at, and easy to use.
There are links to the wire frame for the project below, which will help you understand the content on the pages and the functionality of the site.
Our logo is attached, and should be used throughout the design. It is not necessary to use the same colors in the logo, but colors you use should be complementary. Note that there is a logo and a name image.
The design should be clean and open. We want users to understand the important content right away. Complicated, crowded or erratic designs will not work.
Our site will be used by people who are watching TV, so it is critical that the design be simple and condensed. We must be careful that they can take actions on our site quickly, because we cannot compete for their attention too much. They want to watch TV, not hang out on a website - if we don't make it easy for them to participate in WatchParty they will leave.
Please design for a 1024x768 screen.
Please use clip art or stock photos only as placeholders, not as integral components.
There are three pages to be designed. We are currently developing wireframes for each page. The links to the wireframes are included here.
PLEASE NOTE: The links to wireframes may change. Please check the comments for this design project to ensure you are viewing the most current wireframes! This design brief will be updated if any links change, but if you do not check the comments you may be working from an earlier wireframe draft.
Home Page: The main page for visitors and users to log in.
WatchParty Page: The page for a TV program, where users will engage one another.
Profile Page: A user's profile page. The wireframe for this page is under development. The link will be posted shortly.
NEW LINK FOR WIREFRAMES:
This link will take you to the wireframe for the page for a specific WatchParty ("Mad Men" in the example). Use the site map on the left of the screen to access wireframes for other pages.
Mouse over the yellow circles for explanations of the components of the pages.
