We already have a layout envisioned for our homepage so we are looking for a design of one of our category pages (e.g. category page: http://koyumatcha.com/wp/matcha/health/ ) which demonstrates both an appreciation of the overall feel of the site as well as an eye-catching layout for content pages.
1. Permanent Elements of the website:
The new site will consist of a number of different webpage layouts depending on whether its a homepage, contact form etc. There are a number of permanent elements which we want to be visible on all pages of the site, which are as follows:
a.Koyu Logo and banner
b.Email signup box ( to include text – e.g. “Sign up to receive a £5 Money off voucher for your next Koyu Matcha purchase”)
c. Social media sign up (both twitter and Facebook).
d. Customer Account box (includes “Your Koyu credit is” plus “Click here to become a member and get 20 free Koyu credits)
e. Live Chat box
f. Shopping cart box
g. Usual links – Delivery, returns, about etc (See current site)
Use your own design discretion to find suitable locations for each of the element unless otherwise specified. The border area would be our first preference for most of the above permanent elements though original ideas are welcome. The email signup box and Account box should be prominent, possibly through the use of a hot or clashing colour.
We will be providing detailed feedback to all entrants on their entries – we won't leave you wondering what you're doing right or wrong.
2. Navigation Bar
The main navigation bar will consist of 8 main elements
1. Matcha Tea Shop
2. What is Matcha Tea
3. Which matcha tea?
4. Matcha Green Tea benefits
5. Matcha Preparation
7. Where to buy Koyu matcha
When creating the look and feel of the navigation bar please show an active interaction and consider the following aspects.
When the user is interacting with it what kind of visual feedback will they get as they hover over different links and select a page?
How will the current page be indicated in the menu to the user?
How will the navigation bar change be reflected in the use of breadcrumbs?
At the moment we are using a drop down menu. It would probably be generally a good idea though a sidebar navigation as implemented in the Ringana website example we provided earlier. . We are open to all ideas that make the user experience more intuitive and clear.
Non-permanent element (Main body content )
For this particular brief we don’t want a homepage but rather one of the pages accessed from the main navigation bar. For the purposes of clarity we will nominate the Matcha Green Tea Benefits page as the page to be designed for this contest. The current version of this can be found on the site http://koyumatcha.com/wp/matcha/health/ but we wish to add a few new features.
1. A video link – e.g. Youtube or Vimeo to feature a quick explanation of matcha's health benefits. This should be prominent and on the larger side.
2. Graphical links to the sub-elements of matcha health, e.g matcha energy, matcha antioxidants, Matcha health FAQs etc. See current page for details
3. Prominent call to action buttons such as “Buy Now!” “Buyers guide” “Testimonials” to direct users to other parts of the site. These should pe positioned to the right of the page or main body
