Lasse needed a new web page design and created a contest on 99designs.
A winner was selected from 78 designs submitted by 15 freelance designers.
Religionsfaget.dk (translated: Religion studies)
We are a publishing company called Clio Online who make educational websites.
Religionsfaget.dk is an educational website to be used as an alternative to books in Danish classrooms at elementary- and highschool levels. After a trial period schools are offered paid subscriptions to access the content. The design needs to be both highly functional and intuitively understandable, and at the same time pleasing to the eye and appeal to both children and grownups alike.
Other educational websites from Clio Online. All build on the same idea:
1) http://www.danskhistorie.dk (History studies, designed 2007)
2) http://www.kristendomskundskab.dk - current website which needs a facelift.
3) http://www.samfundsfaget.dk (Society/government studies, designed 2008)
4) http://www.fysikkemifaget.dk (Physics/Chemistry studies, designed 2009)
5) http://www.biologifaget.dk (great design) (Biology studies, designed 2009)
6) http://www.geografifaget.dk (great design) (Geology studies, designed 2009)
We would like Religionsfaget.dk to have a great design like 5) and 6), but you can get inspiration from the likeness in structure between all our websites. We don't want to deviate from this basic structure.

In the login area you must choose "Brugernavn" (translated: User name).
We need designs for the front page and a standard article (subpage) including all the standard content elements already used in the existing website, http://www.kristendomskundskab.dk.
Structure:
To best explain our structure, please take a look at the "Websites for inspiration" section below. Here you will find all the websites published by Clio Online from which it should be clear that they all have the same basic structure -- we want Religionsfaget.dk to have this same basic structure as well.
Desk theme:
You should notice that all our website designs have a kind of "desk theme", with illustrated pieces of paper, paper clips, folded corners, pins etc. We would like this theme to continue on Religionsfaget.dk.
Header graphics:
Please find inspiration in the way header graphics are used on http://www.biologifaget.dk and http://www.geografifaget.dk. Here we have landscapes that encapsulate the essence of what is being taught in these studies. For Religionsfaget.dk it could be a similar landscape, encapsulating different themes from the major world religions - however with a significant weight on Christianity, because about 60% of the articles in the website is about Christianity, by decree of the Ministry of Education in Denmark. Imagery such as a graveyard, religious buildings and religious figures and situations could be illustrated in the landscape.
An alternative to a landscape could be a kind of professors work table, surrounding the central paper, with different kinds of religious artifacts scattered around the table. For example:
* Books about different religions
* A Bible
* A rosary
* A crucifix
* Incense
* Dreidel (Jewish dice)
* Buddhist prayer wheel
* A small model building of a synagogue
* A small Buddha (or Hindu) statue
* Polaroid picture of a Danish church
* Painting of a praying man
Etc.
As stated above, the main focus needs to be on Christianity. Stories from The Bible and a classic Danish church and priest would be very good stuff. They basically look like this:

Beside religions, the subject also encapsulates the concept of ethics and life & death. Keywords:
* Community
* Loneliness
* Friendship
* Compassion
* Bullying
* Feelings
If possible, these themes should also be reflected in the header graphics; perhaps as situations with children in a playground.
Logo:
We need a new logo to go with the new name, and new website design.
We would like the new logo to include a small icon in the same way that http://www.fysikkemitimen.dk has two test tubes and a magnet in front of the name.
Front page:
Please include all the content elements used on http://www.biologifaget.dk. For an explanation of the different elements, see this image:

Article page (subpage):
Please include all the content elements used on the article pages of http://www.biologifaget.dk. Se this explanation of the elements:

let.kristendomskundskab.dk (translated: Easy section):
When you buy a subscription for http://www.kristendomskundskab.dk you also get access to let.kristendomskundskab.dk which is for smaller children. We do NOT need a new web design for this. However you need to include thoughts on how to make people aware of the existence of the secondary website. It could be a significant icon on the front- and subpages.
