Agileware got their new web page design by running a design contest:
website design for Women's & Children's Hospitals Australasia

Medical & Pharmaceutical
This website will be the 'go to' place for any health professional, manager, administrator, policy maker, or consumer wanting information and services related to the care provided by hospitals to women and babies, and/or to children and young people. It will be a shared portal for 2 organisations — Women’s Hospitals Australasia, and Children’s Hospitals Australasia, whose members are both specialist and generalist hospitals in Australia and New Zealand.
* www.wh.org.au – non-blocky banner, bold colours, white space * www.kidshealth.org – re concept of landing page for our site – bold colour, photo based links to the CHA or WHA sits.... minimal text/buttons on this first landing page but still clear what they are about. But would be better if the images and frame for this page were not square but more free flowing. * www.mossrehab.com - like the soft background imagery, possibility of using the CHA or WHA logos in the background? Would be better if white background not tan. * www.aia.org - Like the font style and the knowledge resources section at the bottom * www.mayoclinic.com - Like the professional feel and maroon coloured strip with core message in it, but would be better if the image was not so large top to bottom
* Entry page Because this site is essentially being shared by 2 separate (though complimentary) organisations, we want the entry page to be different from most – we’re thinking of an image intensive and attractive home page without tabs or buttons, but with a clear flag of the organisations involved, and images (and a few words re our vision) that make it clear you can click through to either the Women’s Hospitals Australasia site or the Children’s Hospitals Australasia site. * Home pages Once you land on either the WHA or CHA home pages behind the shared entry page, you’ll have the logo of just one organisation, relevant images, and navigation bar for that organisation’s content, sitemap footer for both organisations. The same basic structure will apply for both the WHA and CHA sections of the website, but with unique content, colours, and images. * Content pages Quick links in the right sidebar, each menu item uses branded icons (in the style of Explore Vimeo sidebar [vimeo.com]). Layout suggestions for advertising positioning (standard ad sizes), we want advertising to be secondary to content. E.g. placement in the sidebar, below the main content etc. We currently don’t have advertising on our website but want to plan for this option in the future.
* Standard fonts (Helvetica, Arial, Georgia, Verdana only) and Google Web Fonts only please. * We want to convey that we are friendly, engaging, informed and informative. That we are experts doing good work to support excellence in healthcare by our member hospitals. There needs to be a warmth and ‘feel good’ tone to the site, some bold colours and fresh look (clean and organised but confident and inviting). We’re thinking of some curved lines not hard boxed corporate images, some bold, warm colours, not too much clutter. * Simple and not trying to overload you with information. * White space is good. Do not like congested news websites. Allow the eye to rest. * Subtle watermarked background image derived from the each logo may be an option for the home pages but not at the expense of some bold colour theming for each of CHA and WHA. * Examples of websites we DO NOT like ** www.starship.org.nz - too busy and blocky. ** www.rcog.org.uk - too busy, too square, blocky, too corporate ** www.rcm.org.uk - wishy washy colours for navigation tabs, banner too plain but has ok white space for resting the eye. ** www.midwiferytoday.com - way too busy, too crowded, horrible colour LOGOS and STOCK IMAGES found in the shared dropbox: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/14616172/wcha-images.zip
