Arne T got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Yoga Studio Website Exuding Calmness

We are a yoga studio in London that also sells an online membership program. The membership will give them access to all online courses for one simple fee per month. There will also be trial offer where people can get access to the online courses for one month by paying $1. The target audience is women age 25-35 who are interested in self-improvement, pilates, meditation, working out, healthy eating
Just knock yourself out. Design something that you think would be amazing and then we take it from there. It needs to be 100% professional and at the same time convey calmness and being centered. I do not want anything that is playful. As the site's logo, simply use an image that says "I'm Centered" for now.
I need the homepage designed. Navigation bar at the top and then a header image. The top right hand corner needs to show our phone number. It should be instantly recognizable yet at the same time not draw too much attention. It is there to reassure people that we are real and that we are there for them whenever they need something. You can use the phone number for Buckingham Palace in London for now: +44 (0)303 123 7300. If you can squeeze it in, add the times we're available: Mon-Fri 9am-6pm UK Time. The top right hand corner should also include a prominent login button. Don't make the header image too big. When you open the site in a browser and all you see is the navigation bar and the header image, a lot of people will think that that's the entire site. They won't browse or scroll down. They will just close the window as nothing has caught their attention. The most common way that people will land on the website is because they've seen our videos on Facebook or YouTube. They will most likely be interested in either attending an in-person class or taking the $1 for 1 month trial offer for our membership program. Both needs to be advertised right below the navigation bar. See example sites. The main way that we will get customers is through the videos we post on Facebook and YouTube. If someone hasn't come from our social media sites they probably won't be interested in taking us up on the aforementioned trial offer or attending an in-person class, so we will have to show them the Facebook and YouTube videos to get them interested in our brand. See https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/embedded-video-player/ for guidance on what an embedded Facebook video will look like. It should show the full post for added social proof. How wide it should be is up to you. Try to show three Facebook videos and see how that goes. Below the videos there needs to be a button to check out further videos. Next should be an About Us section. This will be a video (not from Facebook) with no text. Below that should be a section to promote a few of the courses that we have on offer. At the beginning this will be very few, so as an example come up with random titles for a couple courses and list them there. Try to list six courses, three next to each other and then below that another three. Below the courses section should again be a button to check out the other ones. In the lower right hand corner of the screen should be a small floating arrow pointing down. Especially on desktop a lot of people who aren't very internet-savvy often don't realise that the scroll bar indicates that there is more content below the fold. If there is a separate button that they can click that then scrolls the site for them, this greatly increases time-on-site and reduces the bounce rate. All the photos that will be used in the live version will be shot by me so you can use whatever example photos that you deem appropriate to show off your design.
What to avoid
- The colors purple and pink - Making the header image too big - Using ALL CAPS - Mixing free-floating and solid blocks - Having both round and square edges interspersed throughout the design - Colors that clash - Harsh colors
Please make sure to include a mobile-friendly version.
