Author biography
I am a 52 year-old woman, 30-year veteran English teacher, married with 3 kids hoping to soon retire from teaching and spend time learning more about self-reliant homesteading projects.
I am a regular person who lives a regular life, and even though I am just starting out on this path, I can attest that it is 100% possible for anyone to adjust just a few parts of their life regarding food and safety if they care to provide for and protect their most treasured people and possessions.

Feel free to add in any patriotic flair. Simple is better, but I definitely don't want the cover to blend in with every other prepper book. Silly is okay, too! Target audience members are prepper newbies.

When I decided to put this book together, I had one person in mind. YOU: someone like me who wants to learn more about self-reliance but isn’t trying to channel Bear Grylls. Someone who knows how sensible it is to prepare for different types of disaster, but isn’t about to dig an underground shelter. At least not right away. In this book, you will learn elemental skills like…
*what essentials to have in your pantry and why;
*how to easily grow your own delicious fruits, vegetables, and herbs and how to store them for future use;
*how to shelter, feed, and care for chickens that will produce protein all year long, and how to store their eggs even when the power goes out;
*water collection and how to preserve it for drinking, cooking, washing, and anything else;
*how to store energy for future use, and how composting and managing waste can save you money; and,
*which emergency tools, weapons, and medical supplies to have on hand for you and your animals, as well as how to communicate with loved ones in the event of a grid down emergency.
The lessons in this book are intended to show you that YOU CAN rely on yourself with basic homesteading and survival skills even if you are brand new to both concepts. My hope is that you realize you are not alone in wanting to turn a corner in the ways you can provide for yourself, your family, and your property, and to come away feeling encouraged, empowered, and excited to start down that path.
